Alexandros Vasmoulakis – Relics
Gli oggetti rinvenuti in un luogo abbandonato riacquistano una nuova vita attraverso l’arte di Alexandros Vasmoulakis. Il suo lavoro per Outdoor Festival è composto da una serie di installazioni create con oggetti e materiale rinvenuti durante le sue perlustrazioni dentro gli spazi abbandonati dell’ex caserma. La scoperta e il ritrovamento di questi oggetti ha portato l’artista greco a concentrarsi su di essi come espressione esaustiva e perfetta del concetto guida del festival Here, now . Un’installazione diffusa, composta da diverse sculture che interagiscono con la mostra Objets trouvés dedicata all’intero materiale rinvenuto nei mesi di allestimento. Una grande montagna di sedie, un pilastro, costruito con i mobili, che si mimetizza dissimulando la sua presenza. La loro imponenza e staticità è in contrasto con la leggerezza del pannello ondulato che volteggia nell’aria animato da un ventilatore, oggetto trovato ma modificato dall’artista con dei glitter verdi. In queste sue installazioni viene dato rilievo artistico non solo all’opera realizzata, ma anche agli elementi utilizzati nella realizzazione: il tempo, i gesti dell’artista, i materiali impiegati. Uno sforzo artistico che ha a che fare con la contingenza e con il presente.

The objects that were found in this abandoned space regained new life thanks to Alexandros Vasmoulakis’ art. His work for the Outdoor festival consists in a series of installations, created with objects and materials that the artist found during the sites inspections. The artist associated their discovery with the festival claim, which is “Here, now”. We can find a column made by chairs, or another one made by drawers, both representing a kind of static presence, in contrast with the lightness of the wavy panel which the artist covered with green glitter and that floats in the air thanks to a fan action. In Vasmoulakis’ works both sculptures, materials and time have an artistic importance.
