What a Wonderful City

Urban art is a voice of  vocabulary, through all its declinations it talks to the spectator/city-dweller, modifies spaces, leaves an aesthetic mark and tells a story. It is in everyday life and urban habits that these artworks best fit in: like an exogenous object they create an interference, a visual disturbance, that is repaired the moment they manipulate the urban fabric, thus becoming aesthetic marks that will be buried in the future. Like in numerous other international cities, even Rome now, thanks to Outdoor, has established a Street Art neighbourhood. Not just an open air museum, but a stage for the speedy and swift change that, unlike many other artistic ventures, has been rapidly accepted.  In these spaces, during the last four years, the deposition of aesthetic traces has taken on an unexpected and sudden route: wall after wall, intervention after intervention, various institutions and actors of the artistic world have come to realise this change and have decided to take part. In the 2013 edition the festival will be presented itself as an open platform. There is still a solid link to the street, but new threads will be added to its bundle.
