Il progetto artistico IED anima i due ambienti del Padiglione 14 declinando il leitmotiv dell’onda. Onda sonora. Onda d’urto. Onda intesa come moda. Come flusso di memorie, illuminazioni, presenze, contaminazioni. In una delle due sale, in collaborazione con il collettivo Quiet Ensemble, prende vita l’installazione “floating wave”, un’onda sospesa e organica, che cambia forma spinta dalla forza del vento e della gravità. L’illuminazione stroboscopica impressiona la retina degli spettatori con immagini statiche alternate a momenti di illuminazione dinamica che permettono di  ammirare i dettagli delle forme in modi sempre nuovi. L’altro ambiente, animato dallo stesso paesaggio sonoro e da tracce grafiche comuni, contiene un’installazione scenografica costituita da una serie di spazi interni: nove stanze modificate nelle rifiniture e integrate con arredi recuperati e rinnovati dalle rimanenze dell’ex-caserma. Il progetto è ispirato all’opera letteraria Oceano mare di Alessandro Baricco, in linea per contenuto, caratteristiche e personaggi con il tema generale di Outdoor: Beyond. Nove personaggi per nove stanze, una locanda e il mare, metafora del confrontarsi con i propri ricordi, le proprie memorie. Negli ambienti sono presenti abiti mutaformi ispirati alla figura del “nomade urbano” e la sala è abitata da una mostra fotografica in sei scatti: ritratti giganteschi di uomini e donne schiacciati contro una superficie trasparente e immateriale, che congela l’onda in un’atmosfera liquida, impalpabile e metaforica. Il progetto è a cura di studenti e docenti delle scuole di Arti Visive, Cinema e New Media, Comunicazione, Design e Moda dell’Istituto Europeo di Design di Roma.

The IED art project, deriving from the leitmotif of waves, brings to life two environments in Pavilion 14. Sound wave. Shock wave. Wave seen as fashionable. Like a stream of memories, illuminations, presences, contaminations. In one of the two rooms, in collaboration with the collective Quiet Ensemble, the Waves installation is brought to life—a suspended and organic wave, which changes shape from the force of wind and gravity. The strobe light imprints the spectator’s retina with static images alternated with dynamic lit moments that allow you to admire the details of the forms in new ways. The other environment, enhanced with the same sound landscape and common graphic traces, contains a scenic installation consisting of a series of interior spaces: nine rooms with modified finishes and interspersed with recycled and renovated furniture from the former barracks. The project is inspired by the literary work Ocean Sea by Alessandro Baricco. The content, features and characters are in line with the overall theme of Outdoor: beyond. Nine characters for nine rooms, an inn and the sea, a metaphor for dealing with their own recollections, their memories. Changeling outfits are present in the spaces, inspired by the figure of the “urban nomad” and the room is lived in via a photographic exhibition composed of six images: giant portraits of men and women pressed against a transparent and immaterial surface, which freezes the wave in a liquid atmosphere—one that is intangible and metaphorical. The project is curated by students and faculty of the Cinema and New Media, Communication, Design, Fashion.
