Symbol of crossings, travelling, of departures and arrivals; the station is a symbol for movement and transition.  Termini Station in particular, in the heart of the city of Rome, encloses and amplifies these situations: messy crossway of suitcases and orderly crossway of trains, a transition of people physically close to one another but going in different directions. One of the non-places by Marc Augè, under the lens of Niccolò Berretta it becomes something else, it’s role is renewed: an open book ready to be read through the light exposure impressions of the photography. In all the photos The Station, even with its bulky presence, makes space for time: Termini Station is a project that started in 2009 and that has turned into a container of experiences and stories. Four years during which the Roman photographer has covered every square inch of the station, stopping and photographing people who have leant themselves to this unplanned encounter, in some cases telling some of their life stories. The exhibition Termini Station (2009-2013) is not just a collection of portraits, which are the main aspect of the project, but also of testimonies, stories written by their characters, that show us that the station can, not only be crossed, but it can also, even if for just a brief moment, be lived.
