Mathieu Tremblin – Stickers Collection

Durante il suo soggiorno a Roma, Mathieu Tremblin è stato attirato dagli adesivi. Girando per le vie della città, si è reso conto della presenza massiva di stickers, che ha staccato da pali, serrande e muri, prima di suddividerli in tre diverse categorie: quelli con scritte in slang romano, quelli onnipresenti che reclamizzano “Serrande” e “Traslochi” e quelli dei tifosi di calcio. La mappa metallica, ispirata alla Guide psychogéographique de Paris pubblicata da Guy Debord nel 1957, rappresenta la sua deriva immaginaria per la città, libera dai limiti che oggi delle app di geolocalizzazione, come Google Maps o Waze, impongono ai nostri spostamenti urbani. A bordo di un motorino o a piedi, ha riempito i suoi pantaloni di adesivi presi in giro per la città, che ha poi trasposto sulle gambe capovolte dei totem presenti in mostra. A Roma, Mathieu Tremblin ha anche prodotto una serie di adesivi con la scritta “Rome wasn’t burnt in a day”, per ricordare che il futuro è sempre nato dalle ceneri del passato.

During his stay in Rome Mathieu Tremblin was attracted by the stickers. Walking through the streets of the city he became aware of the massive presence of stickers, which he then detached from poles, shutters and walls, before splitting them into three different categories: those with Roman slang, the ubiquitous ones that advertise “Serrande” (shutters) and “Traslochi” (relocations) and those of football fans. The metallic map, inspired by the Guide psychogéographique de Paris published by Guy Debord in 1957, represents his imaginary drift through the city, free from all the limits that current geolocation apps – like Google Maps or Waze – impose on our urban journeys. Riding a scooter, or walking, he filled his trousers with stickers taken around the city, that he then transposed on the upside-down legs of the totems displayed in the exhibition. In Rome, Mathieu Tremblin also produced a series of stickers with the words “Rome was not burnt in a day”, to remember us that the future has always been born from the ashes of the past.
